HTC has recently been busy launching a number of Smartphones. One of their latest offerings is the HTC Legend. This powerful Android operated handset combines the winning combination of aesthetically pleasing design with an appealing list of specifications.

The HTC legend utilises a 3.2 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen which boasts the ability to display up to 16M colours within a pixel layout of 320x 480 pixels resulting in a high level of on screen display quality making it perfect for viewing photos and video files. The HTC sense user interface is utilised which is perfectly accompanied by v2.1 of the renowned Android OS. As well as relying on touch screen navigation, an optical trackpad is also included for selecting options from the menus.

The HTC Legend boasts a 5 mega pixel digital camera which operates at a high pixel resolution resulting in excellent quality still images. Autofocus and an LED flash simplify the task of taking memorable snapshots even in low lighting conditions. The increasingly popular geo-tagging facility is also provided as standard which, thanks to GPS, automatically records the location at which a photo was taken. As an alternative method of image capture, the camera can also shoot video footage.

An impressive list of features and applications gives the HTC Legend a high level of everyday functionality and versatility. Entertainment wise, the internal media player is very versatile and supports most of the common formats of music and video files whilst a stereo FM radio player and a number of pre-installed games are also included to provide additional entertainment options. A handy organiser and voice memo recorder offer effective productivity tools, which coupled with a document viewer are sure to appeal to business users and students alike.

In order to store data such as media files, 384 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM of internal memory is provided as standard along with a micro SD slot. The micro SD slot can accommodate a memory card of up to 32 GB which means that an entire digital music collection can easily be accommodated along with a number of other files such as video clips.

Class 10 versions of both GPRS & EDGE provide the HTC Legend with its primary means of connecting to cellular networks. A fast Internet connection is available at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (along with HSUPA at 2 MB per second) in areas covered by 3G, courtesy of an HSDPA connection. Wi-Fi Technology is included which utilises the signals provided by wireless Internet routers to provide an Internet connection at broadband speeds, therefore offering an enhanced browsing experience when available.

The HTC Legend is arguably the most aesthetically pleasing handset from the manufacturer to date. Its appearance is sophisticated yet simplistic and is manufactured from an aluminium unibody, which has an appealing silver finish. For a Smartphone, the HTC Legend is relatively compact at 112x 56.3x11.5mm and weighs in at just 126 g.

The internal technology coupled with the external design is always a winning combination and the HTC Legend is a superb example of this. Therefore, its popularity is easily explained and looks set to continue for quite some time.
