Search Engine Optimization mainly makes use of different techniques to boost a website's success in the Internet through increasing its traffic generated by search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and MSN. This is through the use of different techniques to achieve the highest ranking in all search engines. Some of the most popular techniques used today is link building.

Link building is a term used to refer to a family of SEO off-page techniques which are mainly used to generate links that points to a specific website, their website. According to many SEO Philippines experts, the higher the number and quality of links pointing to a website, the more it gets the highest rank in search engines.

Because of this promise, a number of techniques were introduced in the market which is used to manipulate search engines into thinking that their website is legit when its not. These techniques are mostly known in the market as Black Hat SEO.

Black Hat SEO or spamdexing involves a number of methods, such as repeating unrelated phrases, to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, in a manner inconsistent with the purpose of the indexing system. Just like the techniques used in guideline-approved SEO techniques, black hat SEO is also known for it variety of techniques used to manipulate search engines. Some of the most recognized black hat SEO techniques used today include:

Comment spam: A very widely used form of spamdexing is comment spam. This involves automatically posting random comments or promoting commercial services to blogs, or any other publicly accessible discussion pages.

Link farms: Involves creating tightly-knit communities of pages referencing each other, also known humorously as mutual admiration societies.

Spam blogs: Spam blogs, also known as autoblogs, are fake blogs created solely for spamming. According to many SEO Philippines experts, this technique is similar in nature to link farms.
